There are a few parking spaces in Thanet Road, and a Pay and Display car park within two minutes walk. Visitors may park directly outside the cottage for the purpose of unloading. We provide a 24-hour parking permit for visitors. Further permits may be purchased from the Visitor Information Centre, Dickens House, Victoria Parade. There is considerable, free, on-street parking within a few minutes walk. (see Parking entry on website)
The property is arranged on two floors. Access to the property is via a short passage, shared with the neighbouring cottage. A small step leads to the entrance hall.
The hall leads directly to the carpeted stairs. The stairs are quite steep and may be unsuitable for visitors with mobility problems. There is a child’s safety gate fitted at the top of the stairs
These rooms lead off the hall and are on one level. The floors are stripped wood with loose rugs
One bathroom leads off rear bedroom, down two steps. The second shower-room leads off front bedroom, up one step. The shower cubicle is up one further step. Tiled floors.
Kitchen leads off dining room, with one very small step. Tiled floor. Stable door to courtyard.
The courtyard is on two levels, reached from kitchen with small doorstep. There is lighting in the courtyard, manually operated. Paved and tiled surface
Evacuation of building in event of fire would be by either the front or back door. There are professionally fitted smoke alarms. The kitchen is equipped with a fire blanket and fire extinguisher.The property was refurbished in February 2009, and currently, there is no intention to make further alterations.
